Section 19 Flood Investigation Report for Cockermouth
Cumbria County Council as Lead Local Flood Authority and the Environment Agency will be holding a public meeting to present:
The Final Flood Investigation Report including the timescales for the way forward to reduce the risk of flooding in Cockermouth
Wednesday 8th February 2017 - Christ Church, Cockermouth
6.00pm      Doors open with refreshments available
6.30pm      Presentation of The Final Flood Investigation Report for Cockermouth

Taste Cumbria meeting Monday 23rd January

A 2017 Taste Cumbria planning day will take place at Cockermouth Town Hall on Monday 23rd January and representatives from Cockermouth businesses are welcome to attend.

The meeting will run from 10am-2pm and a sandwich lunch will be provided. Please confirm your availability to along with any dietary requirements, so they can order lunch.

Christmas Window Competition

The Mayor Cllr Sam Standage sent his thanks to everyone taking part in the Christmas window dressing competition.  Sam sent the chamber a card from the Mayor and Mayoress.

There was a very high standard of displays this year and deciding the winners and Highly Commended was very difficult Lord Egremont Cup for Best display including stock in trade Huddert’s Pet Supplies.

Business Resilience Workshops

Join these free workshops for small and medium businesses this coming week (6th and 8th December). During the sessions we will examine the impacts of flooding and power loss on businesses, future climate-related risks that may be faced, and what local businesses can do to boost their own climate resilience.

Cockermouth Emergency Responce Group Launch Event

Launch event – to be attended by Sue Hayman MP

The Cockermouth Emergency Response Group has been formed by Churches Together in Cockermouth, Cockermouth Rotary and Cockermouth Flood Action Group in response to the frequent flooding of the town. The aim of the group is to ensure that our community is better prepared for flooding and other large scale emergencies.

Gritting pavements

There is a grit bin in front of the public loos on Main Street and if you have a slippy patch outside your business feel free to go and grab a mug of grit to tackle it.
