Vote now and bring superfast broadband to Cockermouth

News item image

Residents and businesses throughout Cockermouth are being urged to sign up to a campaign which could bring high speed broadband to the town.

BT has launched The Race to Infinity – an online contest which could see five towns fast-tracked to receive the superfast fibre optic broadband. The telecoms giant is rolling out the technology to boost broadband access over the next five years – but if a town is not part of the company’s initial roll-out, The Race to Infinity will allow it to jump the queue.

All members of the Chamber of Trade are invited to pop along to the Kirkgate Centre on Saturday 20th November from 5pm.  We're holding an Anniversary Flood Social. There will be complimentary food and drink, music by Crowdog and children's entertainment provided by performers from Euphoric Circus.

Organised by a group of volunteers, most of whom were flooded themselves, we'd like this to be a positive night - a celebration of the community spirit that has kept people going since the floods a year ago.
