Special General Meeting

Following the AGM and the election of the executive, there were a number of people who were not present and who have expressed an interest in joining the committee.  As such, the meeting on the 14th March at the recently re-opened Bush pub, will begin at 6pm with a 'Special General Meeting/AGM' to allow additional executive members to be elected onto the committee.

Once that formal part is completed, we will consider a motion to allocate chamber funds to a marketing campaign that the working group/marketing sub-committee has agreed.

Online petition re Business Flood Insurance

Bluefin have forwarded a link.  It is to an online petition to try to persuade the government to change the FloodRe scheme in order to include, amongst others, business premises.   FloodRe is the scheme being introduced to guarantee private householders flood insurnace but presently it excludes businesses.

From what Bluefin tell us, perhaps the only chance of us and others getting flood insurance cover going forward is if that scheme is changed by the government to included businesses.

Paint the Town Red

We have been approached by the team who are running this event in Workington on Saturday 4th June this year.  They are keen to promote local trade and support businesses effected by the floods.  Any businesses interested in attending should contact Amy - details below.
